1977-
At the suggestion of collector’s, a newsletter was born. Not titled,
its five pages listed thirteen American diving periodicals,
addresses of the publisher’s, names and addresses of collector’s,
and other information. In the second issue, a reference was made to
“our list”, and this became the title for subsequent issue’s.
Somewhere along the way, “OUR LIST” lost its newsletter status, but
continued as a Reference.
1988- Having grown considerably,
“OUR LIST” was now titled DIVE PERIODICALS REFERENCE. The USA
EDITION listed Canadian periodicals as well. A SUPPLEMENT provided
issue by issue listings, and other information helpful to
collectors.
1995- DPR II, now incorporating
the SUPPLEMENT, contained a lot more information. Periodicals from
several foreign countries were listed. It had grown rapidly to such
an extent, that it would be necessary to produce DPR III in two
volumes. During completion of the first volume, so much additional
information had come in, that it became necessary to start all over
again!
1996- Work begins on DIVING
PERIODICALS INTERNATIONAL. The Reference information includes
countries, names and addresses of the publisher’s, descriptions,
title changes, mergers, date’s, volume and issue numbers, etc. Many
of the issue by issue lists are complete.
2001- More than seven hundred
sixty titles, from fifty countries are represented. Web Site and
E-MAIL addresses are now included. Due to the extent of the
information, there is now fifteen volumes.
2003- When the current updating
of DIVING PERIODICALS INTERNATIONAL is completed, there will be
approximately two thousand three hundred pages of information. More
than eight hundred title’s, from fifty-one countries will be
represented.
DIVING PERIODICALS INTERNATIONAL
is the only world wide History and Reference of Sport, Commercial
and Military Diving periodicals, with information available to
collectors, historians and other interested persons. I am
considering the possibility of making the TITLES Edition, twenty-two
other volumes and additional Special Edition’s, available on a
series of CD’s. Your comments and suggestion’s would be appreciated!
